Lava Rocks wins allowance race at Mahoning Valley

December 23, 2015 by Keith Haag

Let the good times roll for the big man on campus, Greeley’s Conquest! His daughter, Lava Rocks, took down a $25,300 allowance race at Mahoning Valley yesterday by 9 lengths. The 3 year old filly had re-broken her maiden in her previous start after having been disqualified from a maiden victory in July. She finished 6th in the First Lady Stakes in the race prior to re-breaking her maiden. Lava Rocks earned just over $15,000 for winning the 6 furlong race, which brings her lifetime bankroll to $54,764. Congratulations to owner Jack Cannon, breeder Judith Mears, jockey T.D. Houghton, and trainer Glenroy Brown. We here at the farm wish you all the best of luck with this filly in the future.

Telequest becomes Greeley’s Conquest’s most recent first time winner!

December 9, 2015 by Keith Haag

Telequest (Greeley’s Conquest – Telecaster, by Cactus Ridge) took down a $26,000 maiden special weight race Monday evening at Zia Park to make him the most recent first time winner for Greeley’s Conquest! The chestnut gelding covered the 6 furlongs in 1:10.18 and added $15,600 to his bankroll for the victory. It was quite an eventful stretch run with Telequest getting whipped… by the second place horse’s jockey… twice! No kidding, the jockey aboard second place finisher Super Accord whipped Telequest, who was on the inside, with his left hand as he started to drift out, then switched the whip to his right hand and reached over his own horse to hit Telequest again! Pretty unbelievable, but the results stood after a steward’s inquiry and an objection were filed. Telequest was bred in Kentucky by his owner, Dream Walkin’ Farms (Toby Keith). Congratulations to Dream Walkin’ Farms as well as Telequest’s jockey, Frank Reyes, and his trainer, Paul Smith. Best of luck with this horse in the future!

Served Cold (Greeley’s Conquest – Serve It Cold) Breaks Maiden First Time Out!

November 15, 2015 by Keith Haag

Served Cold, a daughter of Greeley’s Conquest, got her racing career off to a great start by winning first ask in a $24,000 maiden claiming event at Gulfstream Park West on Thursday. The two year old chestnut filly won by a clear margin of 3 3/4 lengths after leading gate to wire in the 6 furlong contest and picked up $12,000 for the victory. Served Cold was bred in partnership by Richland Hills & CJ Thoroughbreds and was foaled and raised here on the farm before being sold as a weanling for $8,500 in the 2013 Keeneland November sale. As evidenced in the photo above, the filly was leggy and flashy as a baby with lots of chrome and was just as cute as could be! We love nothing more than to see horses that were born and raised here go on to achieve success on the racetrack. Congratulations to all the connections of this filly, owner D & D Stable, trainer Manuel Estevez, and jockey Orlando Bocachica. Let’s hope this is the first of many victories for Served Cold, we look forward to watching this filly continue her career as a racehorse!

June 15, 2015 by Keith Haag

The exciting weekend for Greeley’s Conquest’s offspring just keeps getting better! A win for Greely’s Comet at Churchill Downs on Sunday afternoon marks three first time winners in three days for the stallion.
